Land’s End

I took Kaleb on his first hiking adventure this past Saturday. We kept it simple and local and ventured out into Land’s End in the city. Three hours of solid walking ( keep in mind that walking with a three year old is much slower than your regular pace :-) ) up and down on hills and stairs lead us to the rocky beach for a picnic and then back again to meet up with a friendly snail. Overall a super successful day.

Growing things

After 3 years of … um, patient… waiting I finally got an email that I’m getting a plot at Argonne community garden.  YAAAY! I’ve been wanting to get back into dirt for a while now because I find it to be a peaceful reminder of where we all come from, and I’m excited about show Kaleb where our food comes from as well.

After weeding for 3 hours, before 6 wheelbarrows of rich compost

I got me some handsome help.

Compost is in, the plot is ready.

I’m starting with some peas and a little herb garden. And I have carrots, watermelon and eggplant sprouting at home.

Picnic after hard work.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Thank you for the life you have given me, the love and the support and the optimistic view of life that I have inherited from you. I love you, mom! You are the best.
